Several thousand people attended the Halewood Community Festival last year. The day started with threatening clouds, followed by about 5 hours of very hot sunshine. This brought people out in droves, including much of the Grace Church 'family'.

Grace Church had a double stall inside the multi-activity hall which we usually use on a Sunday for our morning Church Meeting. The stall was beautifully decorated with coloured bunting and a large banner behind, the inspiration of AMY and her team. The 'guess the cake weight' competition got off to a slow start but picked up during the afternoon. Congratulations to the winner, who went home with the cake at 4pm! All day the stall was crowded as more than 400 people came to sample some of the superb cakes and to take the sample recipe cards on offer. At the front of the stall were some 'feely buckets' where children could try to guess what was in them.

Although everything was free on the stall, £145 was donated during the day by grateful samplers of the delicious cakes. All of these donations have been sent to the 'Buckets of Love' Charity, which was featured on the stall. This Charity is represented in the North West by JODI from Grace Church, and a display and some of the 'Buckets' formed part of the stall. This was an excellent result and thanks to everyone who took part or sampled cakes!!

These Buckets go all over the world - which helped us link in with the Festival Theme of Travel and Transport.

Outside, some of the guys had set up an ASSAULT COURSE. This was fully approved by the Health & safety experts, and then had a constant stream of participants all day long, interrupted only by the violent post-lunch downpour. The Assault Course proved very popular and had over well over 150 participants during the day. Exhausted and very wet, we had to close the queue at 4pm, just in time to get soaking wet again as we packed up. A very BIG THANK YOU to everyone who helped make the Festival such a memorable day, and all those who we had the pleasure of meeting during the day.
